P.C.Buggy by Steve Hammann

I call this my P.C. Buggy as a tribute to our good friend Paul Canney and his uncanny penchant for dune buggies. I got the idea for this bash from looking at Paul's Funnybug XIV.

I noticed that the rear fenders swoop up aft of the door (if there was a door) like a '57 Chevy does and the rest they say is history.

The base for this project was a leftover hack job of a Boyd's Chezoom. I had cut it apart for the rear fenders to hang on a modern day Impala that was to be another one of my phantom ElCaminos.

By the time I got around to doing it, Revell had brought out the Alter Nomad so I used that instead. Thinking that the Chezoom was junk, I packed it away hoping to use it for parts later on.

Fast forward to the Kooks Kontest. Remembering the sliced up Chezoom, I pulled it back out and cut the roof off of the left over hulk, shortened the door area, re-attached the rear fenders, moved the windshield / deck lid / roof forward. After that was done, it was pretty simple to shorten up the interior to match. This build couldn't have came at a better time because I had been eyeballing those 1:18 scale Jesse James Choppers for their nice looking rims. It took 4 of them at $5 each but they are KILLER looking on the car and the tires resemble a custom set of beach cruisers.

Paint is Duplicolor Metal cast Purple Anodize with a light misting of red flake and covered with Testors High Gloss Clear all from spray cans.
