Bob Crouch contacted me a
few months ago and asked me to work with him on a Monster project. We
talked about the project a little and came up with an idea. I sent Bob a
JIMMY FLINTSTONE I used an airbrush to
prime the Delivery and then proceeded to mold in the area on the top where
MEDUSA is attached. The lower portion of the Delivery was taped off and
more primer applied to the top. Then while the prime was still wet I
stippled the top with a Scotch Brite pad to add texture to simulate a
vinyl top. It was lightly scuffed with the Scotch Brite pad again to level
it out a little. I taped the top off and shot a catalyzed black automotive
enamel to the bottom portion. Next I brush painted the top with a flat
black enamel. MEDUSA and her Serpents were painted with acrylic paints. I
dry brushed her high lights on and detailed her bloodshot eyes. I then
applied a walnut oil based stain to bring up the low points then sealed
her with a clear varnish. I covered her eyes, teeth, tongue, lips with
clear fingernail polish to give them a wet look. I made 2 more serpents
from coat hanger wire and covered them with FANTASTIC PLASTIC. I sculpted
the skull shifter knob from Sculpty Clay and weathered it with acrylics.
Flattened copper wire was used for the forked tongues on the 6 serpents. I
cut my Tack Rag and draped it around MEDUSA for her flowing evening gown.
Fake fur was added around the serpents on her head. |
This was a fun project for Bob and me. The MONSTER CLASS just got a little bigger. |
