TRANSFUSION by ROB RILEY

this was a stock 55 Chevy when I started. this was my first attempt at making an awb drag car. I cut the rear 1/4 panels off, and moved the wheel wells forward 1/2 inch. I used superglue, and automotive spot putty to fill in the cut lines. I sanded off the body side trim, door locks, rear trunk emblem, and the hood ornament mount. I had to cut the chassis apart (just like on my go-mad) to get rid of the fuel tank, spare tire and muffler. I cut the chassis right in front of the leaf spring mounting points to shorten it 1/2". I also made the engine mounts out of plastic rod, and I set the engine back as much as possible. again, I made up cross members from plastic rod. I used some 68 roadrunner rear leaf springs, and the kit supplied rear end. I made the drive shaft out of a piece of coat hanger, and sprayed it silver. the front straight axle is also a piece of coat hanger sprayed silver, and the front leaf springs are from the jolly roger. the whole chassis is painted black.

I cut the interior off right behind the door panels, and made up some plastic sheets to fill in the former rear seat area, and I sprayed them silver. the body was sprayed with gray primer/filler, krylon silver, testors transparent blue, and testors clear lacquer. the dash and steering wheel rim are also body color. the engine is a 454 out of a Baldwin motion camaro, and the fuel injection is from a 55 Chevy nomad kit (from the kit I built the go-mad out of). the engine and trans. are sprayed testors comp. orange. the headers are from a Tom Daniel beer wagon and sprayed flat white. the wheels, slicks and front tires are from my parts box. I left the bumper off the front, and turned it up-side down and mounted it on the rear. the original rear bumper had some bad chrome on it. I left the stock grill out, and put a moon tank in its place. I came up with the name "transfusion" from the old nervous norvus song of the same name. had I thought about the name before I painted it, I would have painted the body blood red. the saying on the trunk is from some lyrics of the song, and "injected with type-o" is also from the song. I made the decals on my inkjet printer, and they are not the greatest of quality...they may get changed to better ones in the future
