"49'r" Built: 1997 Kit: AMT/Ertl 49 Mercury
One of the oldest kits that's still available. The quintessential example of modeling in the old days. I just had to build this like it was built 40 years ago.
The majority of the kit's parts all come out of the box it came in. The white walls are from the Monogram 55 Chevy kit.
The color is actually a blend of left over reds and a dab of silver To me it kind of looks the color of ribbon Christmas candy.
The front turn signals, tail lights and exhaust tipes are aluminum tubing, and the engine has been treated to a simple wiring job.
Inside there is a pearl head needle shifter.
I can't venture to guess how many of this kit's been built over time, but I have to guess it's near the top of the list in built models ever.
